As you also can imagine by the new batch left side down this page: I'm now a WOT notary! So what does WOT mean? Here is a short cite:

"The thawte Web of Trust (WOT) is a Certification system that allows your identity to be validated for use in your Personal Certificate."

By default if you acquire a free e-mail Certificate from thawte, the Certificate is a general one: your name is not included in the Certificate properties nor in the trust chain. By identity validation (task of a WOT notary) you get a fully personalized Certificate including your name!

I like to spread and support e-mail signing/encryption to fight the Spam - so I decided to support (regional) users to get that personal free certificate to keep the e-mail system up and running: just filter for signed mails. I use it now for some years, believe me: if you once have the Cert., it's really easy to use. So if you ever get a mail sent by me but not signed, just move it to your waste basket...

So come on: sign your mails!

I really like the two Sudoku games (one easy, one heavy) ever saturday in our local newspaper -  there are yet only three heavy games I could not solved over the last months and it is really fun. So maybe they are not really "heavy" - who knows.

But now I read this post about how to solve every Sudoku using XSLT (another variant), using SQL and regular expression. Ouch - where is the fun? If you know the algorithm to solve one, it can be expressed by every language poeple like to program. I would more like the algorithm to generate new Sudoku games...

Who is somewhat involved in the feeds/rss/rdf/atom world like me may have noticed the interesting discussion at the Microsoft Team RSS blog. There is now a consens by major players about using this common icon  to visualize webfeeds. Two or three days ago Matt opens a site named http://www.feedicons.com/ to get it broadcasted and so I did by this post

As soon Dare Obasanjo gets the bugfix installer ready of my favorite NewsReader you will notice we use it the same way as it will be used within IE7 - to indicate autodiscovered feeds while you browse. OK, that's an old feature, but you know we refreshed all our used icons and so it was just the right time for the right think thing.

Back from vacations today I found the article Shell Extensions for .NET Assemblies at codeproject.com: really useful tool (must have) to get our projects organized (old VB6 stuff vs. newer .NET stuff). It visually distinguish between normal windows DLL's and .NET assemblies and shows if the assembly is signed via a public key token column.

Today there was a flood of fixed isses (12) for .NET 1.1 published via the Most Recent KB for MS .NET Framework 1.1 article feed. Some that that may affect me at work are

• FIX: Memory and resources are not released when you call the Form.Close method on child MDI forms on a computer that has the .NET Framework 1.1 or the .NET Framework 1.1 with SP1 installed
• One that may affect me with my next generation laptop is this -- But serious on servers!
• FIX: You may receive an error message when you open a (inherited) form in Design view in Visual Studio .NET

Is there any deadline known for SP2?

Recently I found a link from the Rss Bandit referrer stats that points to the Microsoft Technet Security Site: there you can read about RSS, but more important you find a link to the security bulletin feed! Subscribed.

Now also our public RSS Bandit forums at http://www.rssbandit.org/forum has feeds: http://www.rssbandit.org/forum/rss.asp (returns top 25 recently posted topics). You can have a look to the rss content to get infos about how to limit postings or subscribe to a special subsection.

As Dare Obasanjo states: information overload is a real problem for aggregator users. Intelliseek's BlogPulse Web crawler provides a intelligent way to scan the blogsphere for relevant things, e.g. a feed:bursty phrases digest.
